The months of September and October have been filled with many fun activities. We had the great honor to have the visit of Zulena Pescatore and witness the great love the community and specially the children have for her.

When I first stepped on the campus, I thought this place is holy ground. Children were laughing and singing. Our Franciscan sisters greeted us at the gate, and the missionaries were there to guide us. It was a moment I will never forget, and it stays with me every time I return.

This is something we all desire: to be welcomed as we are and to receive authentic accompaniment along our journey, which is the heart of our ministry at Farm of the Child.

While Honduran Independence day is in September, the Finca community had an amazing weekend celebrating with it's United States resident for the 4th of July! The celebration was marked with a party on the beach complete with music and baseball.

Our children also had the chance for a couple of excursions to a local pool and museum this month. We love any opportunity to learn more and have fun together!While they were with us they hosted a party for our community complete with barbecue, piñatas and music. We are grateful for the work that they were able to accomplish and healing they were able to bring to our neighbors.

In early June we welcomed a Medical Brigade called Mountain Medics International joined us as they served those in the mountains surrounding us. Their mission facilitates overseas medical and dental mission trips focused on improving the health and quality of life of mountain communities that provide a home to some of our world’s poorest and under-served populations.

While they were with us they hosted a party for our community complete with barbecue, piñatas and music. We are grateful for the work that they were able to accomplish and healing they were able to bring to our neighbors.

This May 23rd the Farm of the Child celebrated its 27th anniversary. It was marked by Mass with the new Bishop of Trujillo, Bishop Jenry Mora, a party complete with feast, skits, awards for our employees and more! Thank you for everyone that helped us celebrate this amazing achievement of helping nourish, heal and educated those placed in our path for 27 years.
