Why did you discern to serve the mission of Farm of the Child? St. Teresa of Calcutta used to say, "I am a little pencil in the hand of a writing God who is sending a love letter to the world." I cherish these words and firmly believe them to be true for every human soul. I think that's why I am here. I think that's why we are all here, actually. God created me to be creative with my love. He gave my life this unique message, a fingerprint that only my love can leave behind. I've been surrounded by the missionaries my whole life -- my grandparents, parents, friends, favorite authors, artists, and actors -- as if to prepare me for this wonderful adventure with Jesus. All my life, He has been gently, but persistently, nudging me toward service by surrounding me with people who exemplify love. These people have taught me that the beauty of giving, of service, of mission, is the joy of letting others know their worth and helping others write their love letter to the world. I found the Farm at a time when my heart was aching to answer the prod I'd been feeling toward service, but my brain was unsure how to put a 'yes' into action. I stumbled upon the Farm's website and felt Jesus nudge me again -- like when your best friend leans in with His elbow and says, "I've got just the thing you need!" I was immediately drawn to the heart and soul of this mission. I saw an opportunity to serve, to love, to grow, to step out onto the water and trust Jesus, and to write a little more of His love letter. What a gift it has been to have Jesus answer the ache in my heart with this adventure! |
